About the Habitat Map App

In celebration of Habitat′s 500,000th and 500,001st milestone and World Habitat Day, we’ve created the Habitat Map App to encourages volunteers to tell us where they’ve built with Habitat for Humanity. Our goal is to create a dynamic representation of 35 years of Habitat volunteer experiences around the globe. Add your previous experience and tell us--what was it that made your Habitat experience memorable? Then help us spread the word by sharing with your friends and family.

About my experience A group of engineers help install trim and kitchen cabinets at Habitat homes in our community. We gather after work, have pizza and then help Habitat. We enjoy working together and doing hands on projects. It’s always memorable because when you have a group of engineers in a room - a lot of thought goes into a project long before you see any movement. Someone seems to start whistling a tune and before long - we are all whistling along.

Why I volunteer Giving back and helping others is important. Working with Habitat is very rewarding. Affordable housing is important to keeping our community strong. A great town needs strong businesses for jobs, good schools, good health and nutrition and affordable housing to make the community thrive.
