About the Habitat Map App

In celebration of Habitat′s 500,000th and 500,001st milestone and World Habitat Day, we’ve created the Habitat Map App to encourages volunteers to tell us where they’ve built with Habitat for Humanity. Our goal is to create a dynamic representation of 35 years of Habitat volunteer experiences around the globe. Add your previous experience and tell us--what was it that made your Habitat experience memorable? Then help us spread the word by sharing with your friends and family.

About my experience I flew out to LA to build with Habitat for their Lent Build project. Several local churches formed teams during lent, to work together for a common cause. A friend I met on the Thailand build in 2009, was leading the build in LA as a Knights of Columbus member from St. Joseph's Catholic Church. We had a busy day working on two home renovations. The house I worked on was tasked with digging out the area for a two car driveway and patio, then laying and tying the rebar, to prepare it for a concrete pour. It was a good day with laughter and dirt mixed together. Plus, I was lucky enough to be given a pink hard hat with Hollywood on the front. This is a point of pride for me, I think it's a one of a kind.
