About the Habitat Map App

In celebration of Habitat′s 500,000th and 500,001st milestone and World Habitat Day, we’ve created the Habitat Map App to encourages volunteers to tell us where they’ve built with Habitat for Humanity. Our goal is to create a dynamic representation of 35 years of Habitat volunteer experiences around the globe. Add your previous experience and tell us--what was it that made your Habitat experience memorable? Then help us spread the word by sharing with your friends and family.

About my experience Our team built three homes in the village of Korogwe, about 5 hours northwest of Dar es Saalam. The people in the village,including the homeowners, were so warm and welcoming. Though we didn't speak each other's language, we a common bond in building new homes for three families. The joy with which each Tanzanian approached life was contagious. The smiles, the laughter, and yes, the hard work, did more for international relations than decades of detente could ever achieve.

Why I volunteer I volunteer with HFHI because my time and skilss are valued, and becasue I truly feel I can make a difference in the world.
