About the Habitat Map App

In celebration of Habitat′s 500,000th and 500,001st milestone and World Habitat Day, we’ve created the Habitat Map App to encourages volunteers to tell us where they’ve built with Habitat for Humanity. Our goal is to create a dynamic representation of 35 years of Habitat volunteer experiences around the globe. Add your previous experience and tell us--what was it that made your Habitat experience memorable? Then help us spread the word by sharing with your friends and family.

About my experience The team from Paterson, New Jersey traveled to Bay St Louis for our 5th trip to help Rebuild the Gulf coast. Each time we head back to BayWaveland HFH we are inspired by the accomplishments of this new affiliate -- not only have they built hundreds of homes for residents who lost so much during Katrina, but the homes are hurricane resistant AND energy efficient. I remember the folks who still come up to us to thank us from continuing to return to build and I remember the kindness of the United Methodist church/members who made us breakfast every morning and shared their Katrina stories with us.

Why I volunteer As volunteers, we get more than we give -- being around so many good people is inspiring.
