About the Habitat Map App

In celebration of Habitat′s 500,000th and 500,001st milestone and World Habitat Day, we’ve created the Habitat Map App to encourages volunteers to tell us where they’ve built with Habitat for Humanity. Our goal is to create a dynamic representation of 35 years of Habitat volunteer experiences around the globe. Add your previous experience and tell us--what was it that made your Habitat experience memorable? Then help us spread the word by sharing with your friends and family.

About my experience The very first time I ever volunteered for Habitat was in the Twin Oaks subdivision and I volunteered through the local Realtors Association. A roof needed replacing on a home that was under construction and I was asked to help with the tear-off. I eagerly joined in. During the tear off I decided to take a moment to rest and I sat down directly on the roof. Oops! I recieved a little momento from that roof that day and I still have the tear in my jeans to prove it. I now wear those jeans every time I volunteer for Habitat because every time I wear them I am reminded of all of the other good times I've had building homes with my friends for families in need! :)

Why I volunteer I love the mission, I love the people, I have a blessed life and I want to spend my time giving back to others!
