About the Habitat Map App

In celebration of Habitat′s 500,000th and 500,001st milestone and World Habitat Day, we’ve created the Habitat Map App to encourages volunteers to tell us where they’ve built with Habitat for Humanity. Our goal is to create a dynamic representation of 35 years of Habitat volunteer experiences around the globe. Add your previous experience and tell us--what was it that made your Habitat experience memorable? Then help us spread the word by sharing with your friends and family.

About my experience The entire family drove the Oregon Trail west with a one week long side trip to the 1994 Eagle Butte Jimmy Carter Work Camp where we helped build 30 houses in a week on a Native American reservation. It was a trip of a lifetime in which we visited many of the old Forts along the Oregon trail along the way. We worked along side people from all over the United States as well as our Native American homeowners! It was mainly unforgettable beacause I'd never seen a house go up in a week and Jimmy Carter walked through each house to check progress!

Why I volunteer I have made a career of helping others and Habitat is one of the few programs that really helps break the cycle of poverty and homelessness.
