About the Habitat Map App

In celebration of Habitat′s 500,000th and 500,001st milestone and World Habitat Day, we’ve created the Habitat Map App to encourages volunteers to tell us where they’ve built with Habitat for Humanity. Our goal is to create a dynamic representation of 35 years of Habitat volunteer experiences around the globe. Add your previous experience and tell us--what was it that made your Habitat experience memorable? Then help us spread the word by sharing with your friends and family.

About my experience So many of us watched in awe the destruction that Katrina brought to the south. And finally we were able, as a joint unit from our church and our local Habitat affiliate, to go, see first hand, and do what we could to help rebuild. This build was different because we didn't have a host family, but worked on four different houses that were being built as part of a larger group of Habitat homes. But not meeting the prospective family had no damper on our enthusiam.

Why I volunteer Because I can; so many want to but can't, because of financial, familial, or a thousand other valid reasons. But I can. So I do.
