About the Habitat Map App

In celebration of Habitat′s 500,000th and 500,001st milestone and World Habitat Day, we’ve created the Habitat Map App to encourages volunteers to tell us where they’ve built with Habitat for Humanity. Our goal is to create a dynamic representation of 35 years of Habitat volunteer experiences around the globe. Add your previous experience and tell us--what was it that made your Habitat experience memorable? Then help us spread the word by sharing with your friends and family.

About my experience In the spring of 2011 we began a Corporate Volunteer Program at SenSource, Inc. Habitat for Humanity was our first project under the new program and it was a great success! Three employees (including myself) along with the President of SenSource traded our PCs in for hammers and power tools for the day. We built framing inside of the home and hung siding outside of the home as well as hung plywood on the new garage. It was great to work alongside coworkers outside of the office and to give back to our community.

Why I volunteer We are fortunate enough to have The HandsOn Volunteer Network operating in Youngstown, Ohio. This non-profit organization matches local non-profit organizations with volunteers. After detailing our ideas of the Corporate Volunteer Program, the crew at HandsOn matched us up with Habitat for our first project!
