About the Habitat Map App

In celebration of Habitat′s 500,000th and 500,001st milestone and World Habitat Day, we’ve created the Habitat Map App to encourages volunteers to tell us where they’ve built with Habitat for Humanity. Our goal is to create a dynamic representation of 35 years of Habitat volunteer experiences around the globe. Add your previous experience and tell us--what was it that made your Habitat experience memorable? Then help us spread the word by sharing with your friends and family.

About my experience It was an absolutely amazing experience. It was a trip that we were able to interact with the local people and hear their stories about their lives. I was able to see firsthand the difference that Habitat was making in this country. I can't pinpoint just one memorable experience, overall it was more than anything I could have hoped for.

Why I volunteer I originally had planned to go on a European vacation with friends after graduation of my MA. On a whim, after finding a bucket list I had made that included 1) travel to Kenya and 2) build a house with Habitat for Humanity, I decided to apply to a Kenya build. I could not have made a better decision.
