About the Habitat Map App

In celebration of Habitat′s 500,000th and 500,001st milestone and World Habitat Day, we’ve created the Habitat Map App to encourages volunteers to tell us where they’ve built with Habitat for Humanity. Our goal is to create a dynamic representation of 35 years of Habitat volunteer experiences around the globe. Add your previous experience and tell us--what was it that made your Habitat experience memorable? Then help us spread the word by sharing with your friends and family.

About my experience During Collegiate Challenge, my group worked on a remodel and a build at next to each other. During one of our morning breaks a car pulled up and asked to speak to the person in charge. I directed the women to the Executive Director and she handed over the deed to a large plot of land. The woman explained that she had been wondering what to do with this land for a while, and after seeing all the college students working all day long with smiles on their faces, this was what she needed to do!

Why I volunteer I volunteer because, not only does everyone deserve a house, everyone deserves a home. I know the power that is given to every person when basic human needs are no longer a daily worry. A few hours of my life every week could break the cycle of poverty housing, and that is an inspiring thought.
