About the Habitat Map App

In celebration of Habitat′s 500,000th and 500,001st milestone and World Habitat Day, we’ve created the Habitat Map App to encourages volunteers to tell us where they’ve built with Habitat for Humanity. Our goal is to create a dynamic representation of 35 years of Habitat volunteer experiences around the globe. Add your previous experience and tell us--what was it that made your Habitat experience memorable? Then help us spread the word by sharing with your friends and family.

About my experience My wife and I participated in a "RV Care-a-Vaner" event in Alpena, Michigan.. I think it was 2006. We met a bunch of other motor home campers there. We worked on two houses for 5 full days. We saw great progress on the houses, got to tour a local business, participated in a local festival and even got to shake hands with the Governor of Michigan. It was hot with long days of hard work but well worth it. I'm glad we went.

Why I volunteer I truly believe that we who have been abundantly blessed have received what we have so that we can share it with others. I so appreciate having a nice home in which to live. I know how much it means to others to enjoy this as well. What a wonderful way to leave the world just a little better than how we found it.
