About the Habitat Map App

In celebration of Habitat′s 500,000th and 500,001st milestone and World Habitat Day, we’ve created the Habitat Map App to encourages volunteers to tell us where they’ve built with Habitat for Humanity. Our goal is to create a dynamic representation of 35 years of Habitat volunteer experiences around the globe. Add your previous experience and tell us--what was it that made your Habitat experience memorable? Then help us spread the word by sharing with your friends and family.

About my experience Apart from being my first Habitat build, this event was special because it was Habitat Beius' 2011 Easter Build. We worked with three families on their new homes, including a couple who were deaf and mute. Learning to communicate on the work site using only hand signals, facial expressions and body language was a very interesting -- and rewarding -- experience.

Why I volunteer Working with Habitat broadens my world view, makes me feel great, and helps me fulfill my duties as a Christian and as a human being to help those in need.
