About the Habitat Map App

In celebration of Habitat′s 500,000th and 500,001st milestone and World Habitat Day, we’ve created the Habitat Map App to encourages volunteers to tell us where they’ve built with Habitat for Humanity. Our goal is to create a dynamic representation of 35 years of Habitat volunteer experiences around the globe. Add your previous experience and tell us--what was it that made your Habitat experience memorable? Then help us spread the word by sharing with your friends and family.

About my experience While on a build site outside of Mexico City, a young girl named Haylim asked me a simple question: "¿Por qué está aquí?” (Why are you here?) I offered three reasons: 1. Everyone should have the opportunity to live in a safe, decent, affordable home. 2. We are all one in God's eyes; He loves us all. 3. The chance to work alongside someone like her changes my heart and gives me a glimpse into the kind of community Christ calls us to.

Why I volunteer Building with Habitat provides the perfect opportunity to live out my favorite scripture from the Bible, Micah 6:8: "He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God."
