About the Habitat Map App

In celebration of Habitat′s 500,000th and 500,001st milestone and World Habitat Day, we’ve created the Habitat Map App to encourages volunteers to tell us where they’ve built with Habitat for Humanity. Our goal is to create a dynamic representation of 35 years of Habitat volunteer experiences around the globe. Add your previous experience and tell us--what was it that made your Habitat experience memorable? Then help us spread the word by sharing with your friends and family.

About my experience Building with the strongest homeowner Dad I'd ever met; he carried complete bunches of bananas on his back all day and then came home to work with us. Digging ten feet into heavy clay for the latrine. Visiting the GE/Dole pineapple plantation and packing plant where the homeowners worked...I will never buy any bananas that aren't certified ORGANIC again. Seeing the amazing wildlife in a national park during R&R weekend...Macaws are a streaking rainbow when they fly. Visiting the volcano. A zip line ride through the trees! Being met by the local school marching band...all percussion instruments...amazing.

Why I volunteer Because it keeps me in contact with the most wonderful people in the world...Habitat homeowners.
