About the Habitat Map App

In celebration of Habitat′s 500,000th and 500,001st milestone and World Habitat Day, we’ve created the Habitat Map App to encourages volunteers to tell us where they’ve built with Habitat for Humanity. Our goal is to create a dynamic representation of 35 years of Habitat volunteer experiences around the globe. Add your previous experience and tell us--what was it that made your Habitat experience memorable? Then help us spread the word by sharing with your friends and family.

About my experience I was a freshman in college. We spent several months raising funds for our college chapter of Habitat to do a Collegiate Challenge spring break trip to Kauai Habitat. We worked in the ReStore, in their yard prepping things to go to site (like pre-fab'ing all the walls), and on site where the homes were. The affiliate staff were welcoming and fun, and come on, it was Hawaii...it was beautiful!

Why I volunteer I think it's important to give back when you can, and I love Habitat's mission of making safe, decent, affordable shelter a reality for all.
