About the Habitat Map App

In celebration of Habitat′s 500,000th and 500,001st milestone and World Habitat Day, we’ve created the Habitat Map App to encourages volunteers to tell us where they’ve built with Habitat for Humanity. Our goal is to create a dynamic representation of 35 years of Habitat volunteer experiences around the globe. Add your previous experience and tell us--what was it that made your Habitat experience memorable? Then help us spread the word by sharing with your friends and family.

About my experience While I was away at college, an affiliate started in the county I grew up in! The summer after I graduated and before I moved to be an AmeriCorps member with HFH, I volunteered with them. I was only there for two days, but in those two days we mostly completed the deck and put up a lot of siding, with only 4 or 5 people each day. I'm so glad that this affiliate is around, and I'm glad that I got to play a small part in their first home!

Why I volunteer I think it's important to give back when you can, and I love Habitat's mission of making safe, decent, affordable shelter a reality for all.
