About the Habitat Map App

In celebration of Habitat′s 500,000th and 500,001st milestone and World Habitat Day, we’ve created the Habitat Map App to encourages volunteers to tell us where they’ve built with Habitat for Humanity. Our goal is to create a dynamic representation of 35 years of Habitat volunteer experiences around the globe. Add your previous experience and tell us--what was it that made your Habitat experience memorable? Then help us spread the word by sharing with your friends and family.

About my experience I lead a team of 16 volunteers from the US, Canada, Australia, Italy and Holland to Xai Xai, Mozambique where Habitat builds homes for orphans and vulnerable children. We were a great team that worked really hard to finish two homes in five days - and we did a good job. We will all remember the hard work but mostly the amazing hospitality of the local community, the food they prepared for us every day, all the kids that couldnt wait for their photos to be taken and the rewarding feeling we all had at the end of the week when we dedicated the homes and sang and danced and celebrated all together. To Habitat Mozambique and "our" community of 3 de Fevereiro - KANIMAMBO!
